West to return to gridiron in 2021

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Lawrence County High School graduate Noah West is headed into a redshirt freshman season with the East Tennessee State University football program.
East Tennessee State is scheduled to kick off the 2020 college football season at home versus Samford on Saturday, Feb. 20.
As a freshman in 2019, West was named to the Southern Conference Honor Roll. West played in four games for the Bucs during the 2019 season, retaining his redshirt status. The Lawrence County graduate made his collegiate debut at Appalachian State on Aug. 31, 2019. He finished his freshman season with one rush for 41 yards, taking a direct snap to the redzone against Mercer in a game played on Nov. 16, 2019.
West lettered as a quarterback at Lawrence County High School. He totaled over 4,400 rushing yards and 66 career touchdowns during his high school career. West rushed for over 2,200 yards and 32 touchdowns for the Bulldogs in 2018. He rushed for 396 yards, seven touchdowns and nine 2-point conversions in a single game, ranking fourth all-time in Kentucky high school history. West earned District and Area Player of the Year honors in 2018. He finished as the Kentucky 3A rushing leader. The Lawrence County standout was a three-time all-district selection.
