Rice makes college basketball debut in Rupp Arena

LEXINGTON — Johnson Central High School graduate Jacob Rice made his college basketball debut as Morehead State faced Kentucky in Rupp Arena during the Bluegrass Showcase on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Playing out of a reserve role, Rice logged two minutes for the Eagles. Rice recorded three rebounds in his debut.
Kentucky pulled away to defeat visiting Morehead State 81-45 in the men's college basketball season opener.
Rice drained a three-point field goal in a matchup versus Richmond in the Bluegrass Showcase on Friday, Nov. 27. Richmond defeated Morehead State 82-64.
Rice appeared in a school record 145 games for the Johnson Central boys' basketball program. He dished out 500-plus career assists, another school record. He helped Johnson Central win four 57th District titles and a pair of 15th Region championships. During his senior season, Rice was named the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player. Rice scored more than 1,500 career points in high school.
