JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State University tight end Noah West, a (Lawrence County High School graduate, has been named to the Southern Conference Honor Roll.
West is one of 249 East Tennessee State University student-athletes on the 2020-21 Southern Conference Honor Roll, which was released earlier in the month.
The academic honor roll originated in 1988-89, when Southern Conference athletic directors established the award as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in varsity sports, posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher for the academic year, were eligible the entire academic year and were members of the final squad lists.
ETSU’s 249 selections marks the fifth time in the last six years that the Bucs have eclipsed the 200-mark in Southern Conference Honor Roll selections.
In addition to the Honor Roll, the league office announced the Commissioner’s Medal winners as well as the student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Blue & Gold saw 80 student-athletes take home the Southern Conference Commissioner’s Medal, which is awarded to those who obtain a GPA of 3.8 or higher throughout the course of the year. The mark well surpasses the 67 spots landed by Bucs in the 2019-20 academic year. ETSU also had 24 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
West is poised to compete for East Tennessee State in the 2021 college football season.
A redshirt freshman from Louisa, West is majoring in Human Health Services.
