Bulldogs to host Tigers for season opener

LOUISA – Lawrence County is preparing to host 15th Region foe Paintsville for an opener in the 2021 boys’ high school soccer season on Tuesday, Aug. 10 .
The Bulldogs and Tigers are familiar rivals, but Lawrence County and Paintsville did not meet during the 2021 boys’ high school soccer season.
Head coach Scott Johnson guides the Bulldogs. Lawrence County finished runner-up to Prestonsburg in the 2020 15th Region Boys' Soccer Tournament. The reigning 58th District champion, Lawrence County exited the 2020 boys' high school soccer season 9-5.
Head coach Dustin Adams guides the Tigers. Paintsville compiled a 1-7 record in 2020. The Tigers suffered a shutout loss to Prestonsburg in the semifinals of the 2020 58th District Boys' Soccer Tournament.
Area boys' high school soccer teams opened preseason practice after the conclusion of the Kentucky High School High School Athletic Association Dead Period.
In addition to Paintsville, Lawrence County's schedule includes additional opponents Greenup County, Ashland Blazer, East Carter, Johnson Central, Russell, Martin County, Prestonsburg, Rowan County, Belfry, Grayson County and Pikeville.
Lawrence County remains among the top boys' high school soccer teams in the 15th Region. The Bulldogs are poised to push for the 2021 15th Region boys' soccer championship.
The start time for the Lawrence County-Paintsville boys' soccer match is 6 p.m.
