Tigers sweep district series from Martin County

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville swept Martin County in the two teams’ annual 57th District baseball regular season series.

The Tigers defeated the Cardinals in back-to-back games Tuesday, April 12-Wednesday, April 13.

Paintsville 2, Martin County 1

Paintsville edged visiting Martin County 2-1 in a 57th District baseball game at Charlie Adkins Field on Tuesday, April 12.

Ashton Miller earned the win on the mound for the Tigers. Miler allowed one run on three hits and one walk while recording 10 strikeouts over seven innings.

Chase Stacy took the loss on the mound for the Cardinals. Stacy recorded seven strikeouts.

Offensively for the Tigers, Miller, Griffin Collins, Gunner Collins, Baron Ratliff, Grayson Peters and Jonah Porter provided one hit each. Peters drove in one of the Tigers’ two runs.

Dawson Mills paced Martin County at the plate, collecting two hits. Mills doubled for the Cardinals.

Paintsville 10, Martin County 2

Visiting Paintsville topped Martin County 10-2 in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 13.

Zach Cline started on the mound for the Tigers and earned the win. Cline pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks while recording three strikeouts.

Martin County pitcher Dennison Davis took the loss on the mound.

Jonah Porter pitched the final three innings for the Tigers. Porter allowed one hit and two walks while holding Martin County scoreless and registering six strikeouts.

Baron Ratliff, Gunner Collins and Zach Taylor each homered for the Tigers. Ratliff collected three RBIs while Porter and Collins drove in two runs apiece.

Austin Allen recorded two hits for Paintsville in the win.

Dawson Mills record two hits in three at-bats for the Cardinals.

Greyden Proctor, who produced one hit, drove in both of Martin County’s runs.
