Tigers shut out Hornets

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville shut out Magoffin County 10-0 in six innings in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 30.
Two pitchers, Luke Stratton and Lukas Stewart, combined to pitch a one-hit shutout for the Tigers. Stratton started on the mound for Paintsville and earned the win. The Paintsville starting pitcher pitched four and two-thirds innings and recorded four strikeouts.
Closing out the game on the mound for Paintsville, Stewart struck out two Magoffin County batters.
Hunter Arnett started on the mound for Magoffin County and took the loss.
Along with Arnett, Magoffin County sent Evan Reed, Aidan Carty and Parker Bowling out to pitch during the 57th District matchup.
Paintsville plated 10 runs on five hits. Brody Howell (two hits, one RBI), Shane Blair (one hit, two RBIs), Parker Crace (one hit, one RBI), Alex Kimbler (one hit, one RBI), Colton Short (two RBIs), Dixon Kincheloe (two RBIs) and Anderson Lauffer (one RBI) each delivered at the plate in Paintsville’s shutout win.
Brayden Bailey collected Magoffin County’s lone hit. Breaking up a no-hitter, Bailey doubled for the Hornets.
The victory allowed Paintsville to sweep a 57th District series from Magoffin County.
