Tigers shut out Bulldogs

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville shut out Lawrence County 4-0 at Charlie Adkins Field on Thursday, March 26.
The Tigers and Bulldogs are former 57th District rivals. Paintsville and Lawrence County remain 15th Region foes.
The Tigers moved ahead early, scoring two runs during the bottom half of the opening inning.
Dixon Kincheloe and Anderson Lauffer combined to pitch a four-hit shutout for the Tigers. Kincheloe started on the mound for Paintsville and pitched six innings. The Paintsville starting pitcher recorded 10 strikeouts and earned the win. Closing out the game, Lauffer pitched the final inning. The Paintsville reliever struck out two Lawrence County batters and claimed the save.
Gray Derifield started on the mound for Lawrence County and suffered the loss. Derifield pitched three and two-thirds innings and recorded three strikeouts.
Both Alex Meadows and Eli Caudill pitched in relief for the Bulldogs. Meadows and Caudill logged one strikeout apiece.
Paintsville plated four runs on six hits. Lauffer (one hit, one RBI), Brody Howell (three hits), Shane Blair (one hit, one RBI), Lukas Stewart (one hit, one RBI) and Charlie Harris (one RBI) provided Paintsville’s offense. Connecting for an extra-base hit, Stewart doubled.
Brady Caudill (two hits), Owen Pack (one hit) and CJ Whitt (one hit) each contributed offensively for the Bulldogs.
