MOREHEAD — Paintsville held on to defeat St. Henry, an opponent from Region 9, 58-52 in the Stock Yards Bank & Trust Challenge at Rowan County High School on Friday, Dec. 17.
After registering the win, Paintsville improved to 5-2.
Paintsville shot 40 percent (18-of-45) from the field. The Tigers finished three-of-15 (20 percent) from three-point range.
Thriving in another key category, Paintsville shot 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the free throw line.
Paintsville featured three scorers in double figures.
Colby Fugate poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Paintsville to the win. Fugate connected on three-of-seven three-point field goal attempts.
Connor Fugate added 14 points for the Tigers while Braxton Tharp contributed 13 points in the Tigers' victory.
Baron Ratliff paced Paintsville inside, pulling down 10 rebounds.
St. Henry shot 46.7 percent (21-of-45) from the field. The Crusaders connected on five of 12 three-point field goal attempts.
St. Henry shot 55.6 percent (five-of-nine) from the free throw line.
Camden Fedders paced St. Henry, scoring a team-high 19 points for the Crusaders.
Accompanying Fedders in double figures for St. Henry, Owen Setters netted 10 points.
Narrowly missing double figures for the Crusaders, Jack Grayson added nine points.
The Tigers aren't scheduled to meet St. Henry again in the 2021-22 boys' high school basketball season.
Paintsville was poised compete in the Smokey County Christmas Classic at the start of the week.
