Tigers post win over Pike County Central

PAINTSVILLE — Returning to the win column, Paintsville defeated Pike County Central 28-6 in a regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 1.
Paintsville improved to 3-7 after posting the win.
As a result of the loss, Pike County Central dropped to 4-6.
The Tigers scored first and never trailed, exiting the first quarter ahead 7-0.
Paintsville led 14-0 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.
The Tigers were ahead 28-0 at the conclusion of the third quarter.
Back from an injury, Paintsville quarterback Alex Johnson completed 12 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown.
Wide receiver Anderson Lauffer made 10 receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown to lead the Tigers in receiving.
Running back Cedric Stewart paced Paintsville on the ground, rushing 19 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Delivering on special teams for Paintsville, kicker Trey Stafford made each of his four PAT attempts.
Defensively for the Tigers, Lucas Howard recorded a game-high 14 tackles.
Quarterback Jamere Knuckles paced Pike County Central, completing six passes for 51 yards and one touchdown.
Finding the endzone through the air for Pike County Central, CJ Cox was on the receiving end of Knuckles’ scoring pass.
Defensively for Pike County Central, Trevor Holbrook registered a team-high 12 tackles.
Paintsville is scheduled to visit Middlesboro in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 1A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 8.
