Tigers no-hit Hornets in 12-1 win

PAINTSVILLE — Four Paintsville pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter as the Tigers topped visiting Magoffin County 12-1 in five innings in a 57th District baseball game at Charlie Adkins Field on Thursday, April 28.
Gunner Collins started on the mound for the Tigers and claimed the win. In addition to Collins, Jonah Porter, Zach Cline and Brock Horne pitched for Paintsville in the district game.
Alex Hibbins took the loss on the mound for the Hornets.
Paintsville plated 12 runs on 12 hits and four walks. Players throughout the lineup produced offensively for the Tigers.
Collins, Porter and Zach Taylor each homered for perennial 15th Region championship contender Paintsville. Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Collins went 3-for-3 and delivered four RBIs. In a similar performance, Taylor finished 3-for-3 and drove in three runs.
Porter and AJ James each drove in two runs on one hit apiece for the Tigers.
Offensively for Magoffin County, Lucas Litteral scored the Hornets’ run.

Paintsville pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 21-3 in four innings in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 27.
Greyson Peters started on the mound for the Tigers and claimed the win.
Contributing on the mound for Paintsville, Austin Allen and Kal Auxier each pitched in relief.
Colin Litteral started on the mound for the Hornets and took the loss. Following Litteral, Dan Blanton pitched in relief for the Hornets. Litteral and Blanton pitched two innings apiece.
Paintsville scored 21 runs on 13 hits.
Allen, Gunner Collins, Jonah Porter, Ashton Miller and Zach Taylor provided two hits apiece for the Tigers. Collins collected four RBIs while Porter, Taylor and Baron Ratlif each drove in three runs. Ratliff homered in the Tigers’ district victory.
Ethan Salyer paced Magoffin County at the plate, delivering two hits. Salyer doubled for the Hornets.
