PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central erupted for 10 runs in the bottom half of the third inning to defeat visiting Martin County 15-0 in four innings in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 27.
The Golden Eagles moved ahead early and pulled away to beat Martin County convincingly.
Conner Lemaster claimed the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Lemaster pitched a four-hit shutout, allowing one walk while recording nine strikeouts.
Chase Stacy took the loss on the mound for the Cardinals.
Johnson Central plated 15 runs on nine hits and seven walks.
Perfect at the plate for Johnson Central, Brock Butcher finished 3-for-3.
Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Lemaster collected two hits, including a triple.
Cole Ward homered and logged three RBIs for the Golden Eagles.
Contributing at the plate, Matt Crum doubled and drove in three runs as part of Johnson Central’s offensive effort.
Cameron Kelsey added one double and one RBI as the Golden Eagles prevailed.
Damian Cheek paced Martin County at the plate, collecting two hits.
Both Johnson Central and Martin County are slated to compete in the 57th District Baseball Tournament later in the month.
