Tigers knock off Comets

OLIVE HILL — Paintsville topped West Carter 29-6 in a non-district game on Friday, Sept. 26.
The Tigers, under the direction of first head coach Brian Melvin, improved to 5-1 after posting the win.
Quarterback Parker Helton paced Paintsville, completing 10 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Anderson Lauffer was Helton’s top target, hauling in seven receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown.
Accounting for the rest of Paintsville’s receiving, Colton Short reeled in three receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown.
Lauffer scored via offense and special teams, returning a punt for a touchdown.
Chipping in on the ground for Paintsville. Andrew Meeks provided a rushing touchdown.
Defensively for Paintsville, Lukas Stewart, Charlie Harris and Brody Howell each recorded one interception. Howell continued to lead Paintsville’s defensive unit, tallying nine tackles for the Tigers.
Paintsville is scheduled to host Ridgeview (Va.) for another non-district game on Friday, Oct. 3.
