Bulldogs upend Pirates in district game

STANTON — Lawrence County toppled Powell County 43-7 in a Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 10.
The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A, District 8 after registering the win.
Quarterback Luke Fetherolf led Lawrence County offensively, completing nine of 10 passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns
Eddie Chicko, Carlo Chicko and Gray Derifield each hauled in one touchdown pass reception for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County rushed 13 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Darren Brewer paced Lawrence County on the ground, rushing five times for 48 yards.
Reaching the endzone, Mitchell Frazier and Kaden Johnson scored one rushing touchdown apiece for the Bulldogs.
Delivering on special teams for Lawrence County, kicker Brayden Queen made three of four extra point kick attempts.
As a team, Lawrence County recorded three interceptions. Braxton Davis provided two interceptions for the Bulldogs. Davis returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown.
Chipping in defensively for Lawrence County, Andrew Ratcliff added one interception.
Cameron Castle made a team-high 10 tackles for Lawrence County while Chandler Preece posted nine tackles, and Carlo Chicko tallied eight tackles.
Lawrence County is scheduled to host Estill County for its next Class 3A, District 8 game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17.
