PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville dominated in Week 3 of the 2020 high school football season at Memorial Field on Friday, Sept. 25, thumping visiting Hazard 54-0. The Tigers and Bulldogs are familiar Class A football rivals. The win pushed Paintsville's record to 2-0.Hazard dropped to 0-3 following the loss. Senior quarterback Jake Hyden led Paintsville to the win, accounting for nearly 300 yards and five touchdowns. Through the air, Hyden completed 8 of 16 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with three different receivers on a scoring pass. On the ground, Hyden rushed 13 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns .Colby Fugate, Devin Hall and Karsten Poe hauled in one touchdown pass reception apiece in Paintsville's victory. The Tigers rushed 26 times for 259 yards and five touchdowns. Finishing second in rushing behind Hyden, Harris Phelps rushed seven times for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Another Paintsville running back, Zach Thompson, rushed four times for 40 yards and one touchdown. Senior linebacker Mason Lovely, a transfer from Magoffin County, led the Paintsville defensive effort, recording 11 tackles and one sack. Paintsville is scheduled to visit Perry County Central on Friday, Oct. 2.
