Smith homers to lift Lawrence County over Johnson Central

LOUISA — Ella Smith homered in the 10th inning to lift Lawrence County over Johnson Central 10-8 on Thursday, May 9.

Smith excelled offensively and defensively, earning the win in the circle. The productive Smith pitched two innings in relief for Lawrence County and struck out two Johnson Central batters.

Taylor Blevins started in the circle for Lawrence County and pitched eight innings. Blevins recorded nine strikeouts.

Raelyn Adkins pitched for Johnson Central and suffered the loss. Adkins posted eight strikeouts over nine and one-third innings.

Lawrence County scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Smith (four hits, three RBIs), Hallie Adkins (three hits), Dani Cum (one hit, three RBIs), Addalyn Woods (one hit, one RBI), Abby Maynard (one hit), Bree Jones (one hit), Brooklyn Ellis (one hit) and Abby Nelson (one RBI) each excelled offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Both Crum and Woods tripled.

Johnson Central scored eight runs on 14 hits. Adkins (two hits, one RBI), Mayson Delong (four hits, one RBI), Julie Dials (two hits, two RBIs), Adyson Burchett (two hits), Carrigan Ratliff (two hits), Abbie Stambaugh (one hit, two RBIs), Randi Delong (one hit, one RBI) and Josie Dials (one RBI) each thrived offensively for the Lady Eagles. Both Stambaugh and Mayson Delong homered.

Andrew Mortimer
