LOUISA — Lawrence County topped visiting Belfry 3-1 in a late-season game at Randy Keeton Field on Friday, May 10.

After notching the win, Lawrence County improved to 15-11.

Belfry scored first, pushing across one run in the top half of the third inning.

But Lawrence County answered during the bottom half of the third inning, scoring three runs.

Boedy Maynard started on the mound for Lawrence County and earned the win. Maynard pitched six and one-third innings, recording eight strikeouts.

After replacing Maynard on the mound, Talan Pollock pitched the final two-thirds of an inning for Lawrence County and claimed the save.

Chase Varney started on the mound for Belfry and suffered the loss. Varney pitched five innings and posted seven strikeouts.

Chipping in on the mound for Belfry, Dante Davis pitched the final inning and struck out one Lawrence County batter.

Lawrence County scored three runs on eight hits. Logan Whisenant (three hits, two RBIs), Eli Fletcher (two hits, one RBI), Gray Derifield (one hit), Blake Prater (one hit) and Cody Crum (one hit) each excelled offensively for the Bulldogs. Delivering an extra-base hit for Lawrence County, Fletcher doubled.

Belfry plated one run on three hits. Varney (one hit), Zachary Fite (one hit, one RBI) and Luke Maynard (one hit) accounted for Belfry’s offense.
