Sixteen Bulldogs claim All-EKC honors

LOUISA — Sixteen members of the Lawrence County football team have earned All-Eastern Kentucky Conference honors.

Several players excelled for Lawrence County throughout the 2022 high school football season.

Dylan Ferguson, Kaden Gillispie, Caden Ball, Cody Crum and Blake Prater represented Lawrence County on the All-EKC First Team.

The Bulldogs named All-EKC Second Team were Ryan Marcum, Dylan Whitt, Abner Collinsworth, Will McDavid and Talan Pollock

Rounding out the conference honorees for Lawrence County, Lawson Baisden, Trace Longstreth, Makai Strickland, Gabe Barker, Luis Chicko and Jake Derifield were tabbed All-EKC Honorable Mention.

The Eastern Kentucky Conference is made up of high school football teams from Lawrence County, Raceland, Greenup County, Bath County, Boyd County, East Carter, Fairview, Fleming County, Lewis County, Nicholas County, Rowan County, Russell and West Carter.

Lawrence County finished third behind Raceland and Greenup County in the East Kentucky Conference.

Under the direction of Coach Alan Short, Lawrence County won the Class 3A, District 8 title. Lawrence County, which reached the second round of the KHSAA Class 3A State Playoffs, compiled a 9-3 record in the 2022 high school football season.
