Russell shuts out Johnson Central

RUSSELL — Russell shut out Johnson Central 3-0 in a boys’ high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Following the loss, Johnson Central dropped to 6-3.

Russell improved to 5-4 after posting the win.

The Red Devils and Golden Eagles compete in bordering regions.

Ben Totten scored three goals to lead 16th Region member Russell to the win.

Aiding Totten in his hat trick, Brylee Mullins and Elijah Neel distributed one assist apiece for the Red Devils.

Caden Hampton (two saves) and Hayden Barlow (one save) split time at goalkeeper for the Red Devils.

Peyton Daniel and Luke Collins split time at goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles. Daniel recorded 12 saves while allowing three goals. During his stint in the net, Collins logged three saves for 15th Region member Johnson Central.
