Royals shut out Bulldogs

LOUISA — Dealing Lawrence County a shutout loss, Mason County blanked the Bulldogs 12-0 at Randy Keeton Field on Saturday, April 13.
As a result of the setback, Lawrence County slipped to 6-7.
Landon Scilley earned the win on the mound for the Royals. Pitching out of a starting role for Mason County, Scilley recorded nine strikeouts over five innings.
Roscoe Fite closed out the game for Mason County, pitching the final two innings. Fite struck out two Lawrence County batters.
Boedy Maynard started on the mound for Lawrence County and suffered the loss.
In addition to Maynard, Gray Derifield, Tyger Cavins, Talan Pollock, Ford Scaggs and Logan Whisenant pitched for the Bulldogs.
Mason County scored 12 runs on 11 hits. Scilley (one hit, one RBI), Fite (four hits, four RBIs), Connor Butler (two hits, one RBI), Cole Horch (two hits), Brady Mefford (one hit, two RBIs) and Nicholas Mains (one hit) each excelled at the plate for Mason County in its shutout win. Both Fite and Butler homered for the Royals.
Colin Howard paced Lawrence County at the plate, collecting two hits for the Bulldogs.
Chipping in offensively for Lawrence County, Gray Derifield and Jake Derifield added one hit apiece. Delivering an extra-base hit, Gray Derifield doubled.
