Preston emerges as Mr. Football candidate

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central senior athlete Dylan Preston has emerged as a Mr. Football candidate.

Among the top high school football players in the state, Preston was the 2019 KHSAA Class 4A State Championship MVP.

In nine games, Preston leads Johnson Central in rushing while ranking as the Golden Eagles' second-leading receiver. Preston has rushed 103 times for 1,404 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Johnson Central senior athlete has reeled in five receptions for 152 yards and four touchdowns.

Preston leads Johnson Central in scoring. Nine games into the 2020 high school football season, Preston has scored a team-high 186 points.

Defensively, Preston has registered 35 total tackles, 4 tackles for losses and 7.5 sacks.

In addition to Preston, Franklin County quarterback Nick Broyles, Frederick Douglass offensive/defensive lineman Jager Burton, West Carter running back/defensive back Leetavious Cline, Belfry running back/defensive back Isaac Dixon, Elizabethtown quarterback Clay Games, Boyle County quarterback Jagger Gillis, Beechwood quarterback Cam Hergott, Trinity quarterback Nathan McElroy, Somerset quarterback Kaiya Sheron, Wayne County running back Braedon Sloan and North Hardin running back Lavell Wright are Mr. Football candidates.
