Reigning champion Lawrence County scheduled to host 2A Tournament

LOUISA — Reigning sectional champion Lawrence County is scheduled to start hosting the 2A Tournament on Jan. 4, 2021.The Bulldogs are slated to host Pike County Central in the opening round of the tournament. Lawrence County is slated to host former 16th Region rival East Carter for an opener in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season on Monday, Nov. 24.Lawrence County is the reigning 58th District champion. After capturing the 2019-20 58th District title, Lawrence County finished runner-up to Martin County in the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs compiled a 22-12 record during the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. The campaign included a sectional title and an appearance in the 2A State Tournament. Head coach Chandler Thompson guided Lawrence County to the 15th Region runner-up finish. Double figures scorers Cody Maynard (15.7 ppg) and Trenton Adkins (10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) are set to return to the court for 15th Region title contender runner-up Lawrence County. The Bulldogs are preparing to open preseason practice in mid-October.
