Gillispies transfer to Cabell-Midland

ONA, W.Va. — Lawrence County senior Baden Gillispie and his brother, sophomore Kaden Gillispie, have transferred to Cabell Midland, a high school in neighboring West Virginia. As a junior quarterback, Baden Gillispie led Lawrence County throughout the 2019 high school football season, emerging as one of the area's top players. Baden Gillispie paced Lawrence County on the ground and through the air in 2019. Leading the Bulldogs in rushing, Baden Gillispie took 158 carries for 1,170 yards and 24 touchdowns. Contributing through the air, Baden Gillispie completed 19-of-50 passes for 344 yards and five touchdowns while throwing three interceptions.Kaden Gillispie made his largest impact defensively for Lawrence County in 2019, recording 25 tackles. Lawrence County ended the 2019 high school football season 4-7. Both Baden Gillispie and Kaden Gillispie appeared in each of the Bulldogs' 11 games during the 2019 high school football season.Cabell Midland finished as the 2019 Class 3A runner-up in West Virginia. Powerhouse Martinsburg captured its fourth straight West Virginia Class 3A championship in 2019, defeating Cabell Midland 49-21. Currently, Martinsburg is on a 56-game winning streak. The Knights are preparing to take the field later in the week. Cabell Midland is scheduled to face Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
