Raceland upends Tigers 36-19

PAINTSVILLE — Sending Paintsville back into the loss column, Raceland upended the Tigers 36-19 in a Class 1A, District 6 game on Friday, Oct. 22.

Following the loss, Paintsville dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in Class 1A, District 6.

Raceland improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in Class 1A, District 6 after claiming the win.

The Tigers scored first but faltered. Raceland recovered from giving up an early score to edge Paintsville 8-6 in the first quarter. Extending ts lead prior to halftime, Raceland outscored the Tigers 14-7 in the second quarter to lead 22-13 at the break.

The Rams led 29-19 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Raceland thrived on the ground, rushing 49 times for 343 yards and four touchdowns.

Quarterback Logan Lundy led Raceland, rushing 17 times for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Through the air, Lundy completed four of nine passes for 48 yards and one touchdown. Lundy threw one interception.

Landyn Newman led the Rams in receiving, reeling in three receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Noah Wallace contributed on the ground for Raceland, rushing 11 times for 93 yards.

Reaching the endzone once via the ground for Raceland, Connor Hughes rushed four times for 50 yards and one touchdown.

Noah Wallace paced Raceland's defensive effort, recording 12 tackles and one interception.

Quarterback AJ James led Paintsville, completing 14 of 22 passes for 235 yards and two touchdown. Austin Allen and Zach Taylor each reeled in one touchdown pass reception for the Tigers.

Harris Phelps continued to pace Paintsville on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and one touchdown.

Paintsville is scheduled to visit Pike County Central for a regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 29.
