Raceland turns back Lawrence County

RACELAND — Raceland dealt Lawrence County a setback, outlasting the Lady Bulldogs 54-50 on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Following the loss, Lawrence County dropped to 9-10.
The Lady Bulldogs faced a 16th Region opponent for the fourth time in five games.
Raceland shot 40.0 percent (16-of-40) from the field. The Lady Rams shot 31.2 percent (five-of-16) from three-point range.
Raceland shot 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the free throw line.
Naomi Maynard led Raceland with a game-high double-double, scoring 28 points and claiming 12 rebounds.
Joining Maynard in double figures for Raceland, Sydney Childers scored 13 points.
Finishing outside double figures, Sophia Maynard (six points), Braylee Tuell (four points), Addison Thornburg (two points) and Aubrey Terry (one point) followed Childers in Raceland’s scoring column.
Lawrence County shot 31.2 percent (15-of-48) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made only three of 16 three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County shot 68.0 percent (17-of-25) from the free throw line.
Brooke Marcum paced Lawrence County in both scoring and rebounding. Marcum scored 19 points and hauled in eight rebounds.
Giving Lawrence County two scorers in double figures, Jada Patton netted 13 points.
Six players scored for each team.
Maddison Artrip (eight points), Emalynn Kitts (four points), Gracie Woods (four points) and Addison Bowen (two points) also contributed offensively for Lawrence County in the matchup.
