Johnson Central doubles up Corbin 28-14

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central rushed 62 times for 384 yards and six touchdowns on its way to doubling up visiting Corbin 28-14 in the KHSAA Class 4A State Quarterfinals at Eagle Field on Friday, Dec. 4.
Reigning Class 4A champion Johnson Central moved to 10-0 after claiming the win.
As a result of the loss, Corbin ended its season 8-2.
Senior athlete Dylan Preston continued to lead Johnson Central, rushing 28 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
Senior quarterback Grant Rice rushed 13 times for 110 yards for the Golden Eagles.
Mason Lawson, a sophomore running back, rushed 16 times for 69 yards and one touchdown as Johnson Central prevailed.
Rice completed his lone pass attempt to Zach Russell for 11 yards.
Preston paced Johnson Central defensively, posting seven tackles.
Following Preston, Chase Price and Mason Lemaster provided five tackles apiece for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles led 14-0 at halftime.
Sophomore quarterback Cameron Combs led Corbin, completing 12 of 20 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Seth Mills and sophomore Brody Wells reeled in one touchdown pass reception apiece for the Redhounds.
Corbin was limited on the ground, rushing 11 times for 34 yards.
Johnson Central is scheduled to host Franklin County in the KHSAA Class 4A State Semifinals on Friday, Dec. 11.
