Preece ranked as nation’s 16th best outfielder

MOREHEAD — Morehead State University senior Ryley Preece was tabbed as the nation’s 16th ranked outfielder in 2024 by D1Baseball.com on Thursday, May 9.

Preece joined his teammates Colton Becker (Number 9 Shortstop), Roman Kuntz (Number 13 First Baseman), and Nick Gooden (Number 22 Second Baseman) among the nation’s best college baseball players at their respective positions.

Preece won OVC Player of the Year in 2023 and has posted another record-breaking season in 2024. He is the lone member of Morehead State’s 20/20 club, hitting 21 home runs and stealing 21 bases in 2023.

A Johnson Central High School graduate, Preece has rewritten the Morehead State baseball record book this season and is now the program’s all-time leader in home runs, runs scored, stolen bases, walks, extra base hits and total bases.

Off the field, Preece has racked up awards for his work academically and in the community. He has won an OVC Scholar-Athlete Award was named Mr. Eagle in consecutive years (2023, 2024).
