Pollock rushes, passes Bulldogs past Pike County Central

LOUISA — Quarterback Talan Pollock rushed and passed Lawrence County past visiting Pike County Central 48-8 in a Class 3A, District 8 game at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 6.

After claiming the win, Lawrence County improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A, District 8.

Pike County Central slipped to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 8 after suffering the loss.

The Bulldogs thrived early. Lawrence County led 48-8 at halftime as neither team scored in the second half.

Pollock led Lawrence County in both rushing and passing. On the ground, Pollock rushed four times for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Through the air, Pollock completed both of his pass attempts for 41 yards and one touchdown.

Lawrence County excelled on the ground, rushing 23 times for 359 yards and five touchdowns.

Following Pollock in rushing for Lawrence County, Dylan Ferguson rushed three times for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing on the ground for the Bulldogs, Kaden Gillispie added a 58-yard rushing touchdown. Along with reaching the endzone via the ground, Gillispie hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass reception.

Eight different players rushed for positive yardage in the Bulldogs’ win.

Caden Ball recorded four tackles to lead Lawrence County’s defensive unit. Behind Ball, William McDavid posted three tackles for the Bulldogs.

Matt Anderson scored Pike County Central’s lone touchdown in the Class 3A, District 8 game.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host defending state champion Belfry for a Class 3A, District 8 showdown on Friday, Oct. 14. Kickoff for the Lawrence County-Belfry game is slated for 7:30 p.m.
