Golden Eagles shut out Tigers in Apple Cup

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central shut out crosstown rival Paintsville 7-0 in the Apple Cup boys’ soccer match on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Drew Conley and Brayden Staniford scored two goals apiece to lead Johnson Central to the shutout win, which was a 57th District victory.
Nick Hardin, Shawn Arms and Sawyer Crum added one goal each for Johnson Central in the shutout win.
Arms provided three assists, Crum two assists and Conley two assists as Johnson Central won via the shutout.
Leading Johnson Central’s defensive effort, goalkeeper Tate Cox registered a shutout with nine saves.

Johnson Central battled host Perry County Central to a 2-2 tie in a boys’ high school soccer regular season finale on Thursday, Sept. 29.
Brayden Staniford scored two goals off a pair of assists from Sayer Crum for the Golden Eagles.
Goalkeeper Tate Cox registered 14 saves for Johnson Central in the tie.
