Pikeville edges Johnson Central 7-6 on penalty kicks

PAINTSVILLE — Pikeville edged Johnson Central 7-6 on penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Coach Jim Matney Field on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Among the most improved girls’ high school soccer teams in the 15th Region, Pikeville notched its seventh straight win.

The loss eliminated Johnson Central from the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.

Rylee Theiss scored three goals to lead Pikeville to the win.

Goalkeeper Larren Collins paced Pikeville defensively, posting 11 saves for the Lady Panthers.

Lauren Arrowood scored two goals to lead Johnson Central in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament match.

Accompanying Arrowood in Johnson Central’s scoring column, Kiersten Sagraves netted one goal.

Chipping in offensively for the Lady Eagles, Brooklyn Ousley pushed out three assists.

Defensively for Pikeville, goalkeeper Abigail Ramey recorded seven saves.

Pikeville moved on to meet top seed Martin County in the semifinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.

Johnson Central exited the 2023 girls’ high school soccer season 11-7-1.
