Bulldogs drop game to Boyd County

LOUISA — Lawrence County came up short as Boyd County held on to win 22-14 in a non-district game on Friday, Oct. 20.

Following the loss, Lawrence County slipped to 6-3.

Boyd County improved to 5-4 after registering the win.

The Lions led 9-0 at the end of the first quarter and entered halftime out in front 9-7.

Following a scoreless third period, Boyd County outscored Lawrence County 13-7 in the final quarter to claim the victory.

Quarterback Rhett Holbrook led Boyd County to the win, completing 10 of 13 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown.

Garrett Crum hauled in six catches for 108 yards to lead Boyd County in receiving.

Reaching the endzone, Cole Hicks was on the receiving end of Holbrook’s scoring pass.

As a team, Boyd County rushed 37 times for 125 yards and one touchdown.

Making an impact on the ground as well as through the air, Holbrook rushed 17 times for 37 yards and one touchdown.

Cameron Colins led the Lions on the ground, rushing 11 times for 54 yards.

Defensively in Boyd County’s win, Hicks recorded two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Contributing defensively for the Lions, Holbrook added one interception.

Boyd County managed to record a safety in the first quarter.

Talan Pollock and Caven Williams each delivered one rushing touchdown for Lawrence County in the non-district game.

Lawrence County suffered the setback after registering back-to-back wins.
