Martin County shuts out Shelby Valley 10-0

INEZ — Frontrunner Martin County shut out Shelby Valley 10-0 in the quarterfinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Faith Caldwell and Hailey Damron each scored three goals for Martin County in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament match.

Providing Martin County’s additional scoring, Sophia McCoy and Lena Hale netted two goals apiece.

Hale distributed three assists for Martin County while Caldwell, McCoy and Caitlyn Horn pushed out two assists apiece.

Chipping in offensively for Martin County, Emily Ledford added one assist.

Goalkeeper Addison Duncan recorded a shutout for Martin County in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament match. Turning away multiple shots from Shelby Valley, Duncan recorded four saves.

The loss eliminated Shelby Valley from the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.

Martin County (17-3-0) moved on to meet Pikeville (10-6-0) in the semifinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.
