Paintsville tops Magoffin County 59-43

SALYERSVILLE - Paintsville notched its third straight win over the weekend, defeating host Magoffin County 59-43 in a 57th District girls' basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 30.
The Lady Tigers remained in the win column after upending Prestonsburg 62-53 on the road on Monday Jan. 25.
After registering the win, Paintsville improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the 57th District.
Magoffin County dropped to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in the 57th District and following the loss.
Paintsville shot 33.9 percent (19-of-56) from the field. The Lady Tigers were 8-of-23 from 3-point range, shooting 34.8 percent beyond the arc.
Paintsville shot 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from the free throw line.
Chloe Hannah paced Paintsville with a double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
Paintsville featured two scorers in double figures as Emilea Preece posted 16 points.
Narrowly missing double figures in scoring for Paintsville, Leandra Curnutte netted nine points.
Camryn Helton chipped in six points as Paintsville prevailed.
Providing a lift for the Lady Tigers in multiple categories, Ava Hyden added five points and 11 rebounds.
Magoffin County finished 13-of-57 from the field. The Lady Hornets were 2-of-17 from 3-point range.
Magoffin County shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the free throw line.
Angel Mullis led Magoffin County with a game-high double-double, Mullis, who was 12-of-15 from the free throw line, scored 24 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.
Accompanying Mullis in double figures in scoring for the Lady Hornets, Haley Barnett added 12 points.
Chipping in for Magoffin County, Karah Lafferty added five points and seven rebounds.
