Cardinals beat Bulldogs 79-50

INEZ - In a rematch of the 2019-20 15th Region boys' basketball title game, Martin County rolled past visiting Lawrence County 79-50 on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Martin County shot 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the field. The Cardinals shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from 3-point range.

Martin County shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the free throw line.

The Cardinals outrebounded the Bulldogs 36-34.

Five Martin County players reached double figures in scoring.

Brady Dingess led Martin County with a game-high 23 points. Joining Dingess in double figures for the Cardinals, Luke Hale added 13 points, James Dials and Jacob Butcher netted 11 points apiece and Park Davis tallied 10 points.

Butcher recorded a double-double for the Cardinals, securing 12 rebounds.

Lawrence County shot 31.1 percent (19-of-61) from the field. The Bulldogs were 4-of-25 from 3-point range.

Lawrence County shot 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the free throw line.

Cody Maynard paced Lawrence County, scoring a team-high 19 points for the Bulldogs.

Maynard led a trio of Lawrence County players in double figures.

Trenton Adkins added 14 points for the Bulldogs.

Following Adkins in scoring for Lawrence County, Baden Gillispie netted 11 points.

The Bulldogs slipped back into the loss column after defeating Chesapeake (Ohio) 82-71 in the Boyd County Roundball Classic on Saturday, Jan. 23.
