Paintsville shuts out Perry County Central 43-0

HAZARD - Paintsville continued to dominate on the road on Friday, Oct. 2, shutting out Perry County Central 43-0 in Week 4 of the 2020 high school football season. The Tigers moved to 3-0 after notching the win. Paintsville set the tone early and limited Perry County Central throughout the non-district high school football game. The Tigers led 36-0 at halftime. Paintsville finished with 428 yards of total offense. The Tigers rushed 28 times for 328 yards and six touchdowns. Harris Phelps paced Paintsville on the ground, rushing 12 times for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Providing large gains on the ground for Paintsville, Zach Thompson rushed five times for 100 yards and one touchdown. Following Thompson, senior quarterback Jake Hyden rushed four times for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Another Paintsville running back, Luke Hyden rushed two times for five yards and one touchdown. Through the air for the Tigers, Jake Hyden completed nine of 19 passes for 100 yards. Zach Taylor led Paintsville in receiving, hauling in two receptions for 34 yards. Another receiver, Devin Hall, added three receptions for 25 yards in the Tigers' shutout win. Defensively, Hunter Ousley and Nathan Marsillett posted 11 tackles apiece for the Tigers. Mason Lovely, who led the state in tackles as a junior at Magoffin County in 2019, added 10 tackles for Class A title contender Paintsville. The 2019 Class 1A Runner-up, Paintsville is scheduled to host Fairview on Friday, Oct. 9.
