Paintsville shuts out Magoffin County in district matchup 6-0

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville pitchers Connor Fugate and Ashton Miller combined to pitch a perfect game as the Tigers shut out visiting Magoffin County 6-0 in a 57th District baseball matchup on Tuesday, April 20.
Fugate was the Tigers' starting pitcher and earned the win on the mound. Combined, Fugate and Miller recorded 15 strikeouts.
Ethan Prewitt, Kaden Bowling and Trenton Coleman each pitched for the Hornets. Prewitt started on the mound for Magoffin County and suffered the loss.
Offensively, Paintsville managed to force Magoffin County to play from behind during the mid-season 57th District baseball matchup.
Paintsville, a contender for the 2021 15th Region baseball championship, plated six runs on five hits in the district game.
Miller and Ashton Adams collected two hits apiece for the Tigers. Adams finished 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in Paintsville's victory. Miller was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Tigers.
Chipping in at the plate for Paintsville, AJ James added one hit.
Paintsville claimed its sixth straight win after falling to rival Pikeville in the 15th Region All "A" Classic title game.
Magoffin County suffered its second straight loss after winning four of five games.
