Blevins pitches Bulldogs past Huntington 5-0

LOUISA — Bryce Blevins pitched a three-hit complete game shutout to lead Lawrence County over visiting Huntington 5-0 in a high school baseball game on Friday, April 23.
Blevins, who is committed to the University of Kentucky, earned the win on the mound. The lefthander allowed three hits and zero runs while striking out 13 and walking zero over seven innings.
Caleb Smith started on the mound for Huntington. Smith allowed three hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
Braden Austin and Carter Williams each pitched out of relief roles for the Highlanders, throwing one inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
The Bulldogs outhit Huntington 5-3.
Ethan Whitt homered for Lawrence County in the fifth inning.
Whitt and Jacob Fletcher paced Lawrence County at the plate, recording two hits apiece. The productive Whitt drove in three of Huntington's five runs.
The Bulldogs thrived defensively, finishing error-free.
Justin Legg, Ben McKelvey and Trent Derth recorded one hit apiece for the Highlanders.
Huntington committed two errors in the loss.
Lawrence County 16, Prestonsburg 6
Visiting Lawrence County pulled away to beat Prestonsburg 16-6 in a 58th District baseball game at StoneCrest on Tuesday, April 20.
Jake Derifield was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. Derifield allowed five hits and six runs over five and a third innings, striking out seven.
Blue Fletcher threw one and two-thirds innings in relief for the Bulldogs. Fletcher recorded the last five outs to claim the save.
Nick Kidd started on the mound for the Blackcats. Kidd allowed four hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out two. Jon Little and Kaden Allen pitched out of relief roles for Prestonsburg, throwing three and a third innings and two and two-thirds innings respectively.
Lawrence County outhit Prestonsburg 14-8. Jacob Fletcher, Blue Fletcher, Ethan Whitt, Brayden Maynard and Nick Collinsworth each managed multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Blue Fletcher and Whitt led Lawrence County at the plate, recording three hits apiece.
Little and Payton Burke provided two hits apiece for Prestonsburg.
Each 58th District baseball team committed two errors.
