Paintsville doubles up Magoffin County 56-28

SALYERSVILLE — Visiting Paintsville doubled up Magoffin County 56-28 in a 57th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 21.

Much-improved Paintsville registered its fifth straight win.

Paintsville (11-6 overall, 3-1 district) shot 34 percent (18 of 53) from the field. The Lady Tigers shot 30.3 percent (10 of 33) from three-point range.

Nearly automatic when shooting foul shots, Paintsville shot 90.9 (10 of 11) from the free throw line.

Kylie Kinner scored a game-high 20 points to lead Magoffin County to the district win.

Accompanying Kinner in double figures for Paintsville, Emilea Preece netted 16 points.

Finishing near double figures for the Lady Tigers in the district matchup, Camryn Helton added eight points.

Limited offensively, Magoffin County shot 27.8 percent (10 of 36) from the field in the setback.

Karah Lafferty scored 11 points to lead Magoffin County in the district game. Lafferty was the only Magoffin County player to reach double figures in scoring.

Jaylen McCarty netted six points for Magoffin County while Angel Mullis added five points and nine rebounds.

The win allowed Paintsville to sweep a 57th District girls' basketball regular season series from Magoffin County.
