Paintsville defeats Perry County Central for first win

HINDMAN — Paintsville defeated Perry County Central 64-36 in the second round of the WYMT Food City Mountain Girls’ Basketball Classic at Knott County Central on Friday, Dec. 12.

The Lady Tigers entered the win column for the first time in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season. Paintsville improved to 1-3 after registering the win.  

The Lady Tigers shot 39.1 percent (25-of-64) from the field. Paintsville made five of 22 three-point field goal attempts.

The Lady Tigers shot 69.2 percent (nine-of-13) from the free throw line.

Paintsville controlled the backboards, outrebounding Perry County Central 45-26.

Kylie Kinner led Paintsville to the win, Kinner, a junior guard, scored a game-high 28 points and claimed 12 rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Brooklyn Skaggs accompanied Kinner in double figures for Paintsville, netting 11 points.

Eight different players scored for the Lady Tigers. McKinley Ramey (eight points), Kate Lauffer (seven points), Kendyl Scott (four points), Harper Hensley (two points), Addison Helton (two points), Annabelle Blankenship (two points) and Kendall Short (two points) followed in Paintsville’s scoring column.

Providing another strong presence inside for Paintsville, Blankenship secured 12 rebounds of her own.

Perry County Central shot only 24.5 percent (13-of-53) from the field. The Lady Commodores made four of 24 three-point field goal attempts.

Perry County Central managed to shoot 66.7 percent (six-of-nine) from the free throw line.

Ryleigh Feltner scored a team-high 12 points for the Lady Commodores. In addition to Feltner, Ariana Johnson (nine points), Emily Noble (seven points), Brooklyn Cornett (three points), Kavyn Hoskins (three points) and Ava Cornett (two points) provided scoring for Perry County Central during the game played on the neutral court.
