Newsome earns third conference golfer of the week honor

BOWLING GREEN — Following her performance at the UVA-Wise Invitational, University of Pikeville senior Boo Newsome was named Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Monday, April 12.

Newsome shot her best round of the season at Cattails Golf Course, clubbing a 72 (+1) through 18 holes. The Sheldon Clark High School graduate finished tied for first on the leaderboard but was beat in an intense sudden death round by Tusculum's Nilubol Panno after Panno sunk a 25 foot putt for birdie to seal the win.

Newsome has earned two individual tournament titles in the 2021 spring season. She has won 11 championships in her collegiate career. The MSC award is her second of the season, her first coming after the MSC Women's Golf Fall Invitational, and the third of her four-year career.
