Bulldogs win two of three games in Pikeville Panther Classic

PIKEVILLE — Lawrence County won two of three games in the Pikeville Panther Classic Friday, April 16-Saturday, April 17.
Following a loss to Scott County, Lawrence County notched back-to-back wins over Hazard and host Pikeville.
Lawrence County 5, Pikeville 4
Determined Lawrence County edged 15th Region rival Pikeville 5-4 in the Pikeville Panther Classic on Saturday, April 17.
Talon Pollock earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Pollock pitched six innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out two.
Will Lafferty and Jake Derifield each worked out of relief roles on the mound for Lawrence County. Lafferty recorded the last two outs to notch the save.
Lawrence County doubled up Pikeville 6-3 in the hits column and committed only one error.
Brayden Maynard went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs' offensive attack.
Contributing at the plate for Lawrence County, Blue Fletcher, Abner Collinsworth, Jacob Fletcher and Nick Collinsworth added one hit apiece.
Lawrence County 15, Hazard 1 (6 innings)
Winning convincingly, Lawrence County leveled former 14th Region champion Hazard 15-1 in six innings in the Pikeville Panther Classic on Saturday, April 17.
Lawrence County outhit Hazard 15-3.
Defensively, Lawrence County finished error-free in the field.
Blue Fletcher led Lawrence County to the victory on the mound. Fletcher allowed three hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one as he claiming the pitching win.
Contributing on the mound for the Bulldogs, Will Lafferty threw one and one-third innings in relief.
Fletcher, Lafferty, Brayden Maynard, Abner Collinsworth and Nick Collinsworth each delivered multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Fletcher, Lafferty and Maynard recorded three hits apiece for Lawrence County.
Hazard committed three errors in the matchup.
Scott County 10, Lawrence County 9
Lawrence County came up short as Scott County held on to win 10-9 in the Pikeville Panther Classic on Friday, April 16.
Each team recorded 12 hits.
Jacob Fletcher started on the mound for the Bulldogs. Fletcher surrendered nine runs on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
Abner Collinsworth threw two innings in relief for the Bulldogs.
Collinsworth, Blue Fletcher and Will Lafferty each collected multiple hits for Lawrence County. Blue Fletcher went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs' offensive effort.
