Maynard leads Bulldogs over Panthers, 10-2

PIKEVILLE — Blake Maynard scored nine goals to lead Lawrence County over Pikeville 10-2 in a 58th District boys’ soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 14.

Maynard’s nine goals is tied for second-most ever in a Kentucky boys’ high school soccer match.

Following Maynard’s leading offensive performance for Lawrence County, Andrew Vinson scored one goal and dealt out four assists.

Chipping in offensively for the Bulldogs, Cooper Smith dished out one assist.

Goalkeeper Ryland Brady paced Lawrence County defensively, recording six saves while limiting Pikeville to two goals.

Matthew Mullins (one goal, one assist) and Thomas Craney (one goal) accounted for Pikeville’s offense in the district match.

Defensively for Pikeville, Bryson Collins and Keyton Looney split time at goalkeeper. Collins and Looney combined to supply 16 saves.

Prestonsburg 1, Lawrence County 0: Prestonsburg edged visiting Lawrence County 1-0 in overtime on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Lifting Prestonsburg to the win, Treyton Hackworth scored off an assist from Taegan Slone.

Defensively for the Blackcats, goalkeeper Deven Stanley recorded a shutout. Stanley posted eight saves for Prestonsburg in its shutout win.

Pacing Lawrence County, goalkeeper Ryland Brady tallied six saves.
