Martin County upends Floyd Central 9-6

EASTERN — Martin County upended Floyd Central in a non-district high school softball game, winning 9-6 on Monday, March 27.

Zoie Hinkle started in the circle for Martin County and claimed the pitching win. Hinkle pitched five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits whole recording four strikeouts.

Kayleigh Osendott pitched the final two innings for Martin County and notched the save. Osendott allowed two runs on two hits while logging one strikeout.

Floyd Central starting pitcher Cadyn Roberson was stuck with the loss. Roberson pitched four and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits while registering one strikeout.

Hannah Lewis pitched the final two and two-thirds innings for Floyd Central, allowing one run on two hits while tallying three strikeouts.

Martin County scored nine runs on 11 hits. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Hinkle delivered three hits and three RBIs. In addition to Hinkle, Bella Muncy (two hits, one RBI), Hannah Stacy (two hits), Bailey Dials (one hit, two RBIs), Addison Duncan (one hit, one RBI), Brynnalyn Smith (one hit) and Savannah Young (one hit) each produced offensively for Martin County in the non-district game.

Floyd Central scored six runs on nine hits. Chelsea Johnson (three hits, three RBIs), Brooklyn Lewis (two hits), Hannah Lewis (two hits), Madi Meade (one hit, one RBI) and Allie Hamilton (one hit) contributed at the plate for host Floyd Central.
