Martin County shuts out Pikeville 10-0

INEZ – Claiming its third straight win, Martin County shut out visiting Pikeville, a 15th Region rival, 10-0 in a girls' high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 2.
After recording the win, Martin County improved to 4-3.
Pikeville dropped to 3-2-1 following the loss.
Martin County used a balanced offensive attack to claim the win over Pikeville in the non-district match.
Kaitlyn Gauze (three goals, four assists), Sophia McCoy (three goals, three assists), Hailey Damron (two goals), Laura Hale (one goal, two assists) and Caitlyn Horn (one goal) contributed offensively for the Cardinals.
Karli Ward and Marlie Fletcher split time at goalkeeper for Martin County, registering one save apiece while combining to log a shutout.
Martin County and Pikeville met for the first time in the 2021 girls' high school soccer season.
