Hornets knock off Knott County Central 38-32

HINDMAN – Claiming its second straight win, Magoffin County knocked off Knott County Central 38-32 in a high school football game on Friday, Sept. 3.

The win allowed Magoffin County to move to 2-0.

Quarterback Lucas Litteral led Magoffin County to the win on the road. Litteral completed nine of 16 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns. The Magoffin County quarterback, who threw one interception, rushed 20 times for 117 yards and one touchdown.

Grayson Whitaker reeled in three receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown for the Hornets.

In another solid receiving effort for Magoffin County, Aden Barnett hauled in three receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown.

Brad Standifer, a top target for the Hornets, claimed two catches for 41 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing on the ground for Magoffin County, Barnett rushed two times for 24 yards while Ben Lafferty added one rushing touchdown.

The Hornets produced through the air and on the ground during their second game in the 2021 high school football season.

Magoffin County was balanced offensively, rushing 33 times for 160 yards and two touchdowns.

Leading the Hornets' defensive effort, Lafferty and Jacob Allen recorded 12 tackles apiece for Magoffin County in the victory.

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Bellevue on Friday, Sept. 10.
