INEZ — Martin County shut out Lawrence County 8-0 in the opening round of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
After notching the win, Martin County advanced to the semifinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament. With the win, Martin County improved to 11-7.
The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament. Lawrence County exited the 2024 girls’ high school soccer season 4-10-1.
Laura Hale (four goals, four assists), Faith Caldwell (four goals, three assists) and Emily Ledford (one assist) accounted for Martin County’s offense in the region tournament match.
Goalkeeper Vittoria Dellmotta paced Martin County defensively, recording a shutout. Dellmotta supplied four saves.
Defensively for Lawrence County, goalkeeper Abby Maynard delivered 16 saves while allowing eight goals.
