Martin County shuts out Johnson Central, 5-0

PAINTSVILLE — Continuing to win, Martin County shut out Johnson Central 5-0 in a 57th District girls’ soccer match on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Laura Hale scored three goals to lead Martin County to the win in the district match.

Following Hale’s hat trick, Sophia McCoy and Lena Hale added one goal apiece for Martin County in its victory.

McCoy and Hailey Damron each distributed two assists for the Lady Cardinals.

Goalkeeper Addison Duncan paced Martin County defensively, recording a shutout. Duncan logged five saves in Martin County’s shutout win.

Defensively for Johnson Central, goalkeeper Abigail Ramey supplied nine saves while allowing five goals.

Martin County 10, Letcher County Central 0: Martin County leveled visiting Letcher County Central 10-0 in a girls’ high school soccer match on Monday, Aug. 28.

Laura Hale scored five goals and distributed three assists to lead Martin County to the win.

Along with Hale, Sophia McCoy (three goals), Faith Caldwell (one goal, three assists), Hailey Damron (one goal, one assist), Lena Hale (two assists) and Mia Preece (one assist) each contributed offensively for Martin County in the shutout win.

Goalkeeper Addison Duncan paced Martin County defensively, recording a shutout. Duncan delivered four saves.
