WHITESBURG — Johnson Central shut out Letcher County Central 3-0 in a boys’ high school soccer game on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Brayden Staniford scored two goals and distributed one assist to lead Johnson Central to the win.

Aiding Johnson Central offensively in the victory, Gavin Webb added one goal and one assist.

Goalkeeper Peyton Daniel paced Johnson Central defensively, recording a shutout. Daniel delivered three saves for the Golden Eagles.

Defensively for Letcher County Central, goalkeeper William Bolling posted 18 saves while allowing three goals.

Johnson Central 3, Powell County 3: Johnson Central and Powell County battled to a 3-3 tie in a boys’ high school soccer match in Stanton on Monday, Aug. 28.

Chipping in offensively, Bryce Ferguson added one assist for the Golden Eagles.

Goalkeeper Peyton Daniel paced Johnson Central’s defensive effort, registering seven saves.

Landon Nolan, Axel Vasquez and Carter Poe each netted one goal for the Pirates.

Getting involved offensively, Garrett Gillespie provided assists on two of Powell County’s three goals.

Defensively for Powell County, goalkeeper Bryson Edwards recorded 18 saves.

Andrew Mortimer
