PRESTONSBURG — Visiting Martin County pulled away to beat Prestonsburg 78-45 in a boys' high school basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 17.
Martin County shot 49.3 percent (33 of 67) from the field in the boys' high school basketball matchup. The Cardinals shot 25 percent (six of 24) from three-point range and 54.5 percent (six of 11) from the free-throw line.
Controlling the backboards, Martin County outrebounded Prestonsburg 51-34.
Jordan Dalton scored 23 points to lead Martin County to the win. Following Dalton in scoring for the Cardinals, Brady Dingess netted 21 points. Accompanying Dalton and Dingess in double figures for Martin County, Luke Hale added 14 points.
Prestonsburg was limited offensively, shooting 29.6 percent (16 of 54) from the field. The Blackcats shot 31.8 percent (seven of 22) from three-point range.
Prestonsburg shot 50 percent (six of 12) from the free-throw line.
Kaden Allen scored 13 points to lead the Blackcats. Allen was the only Prestonsburg player to reach double figures in scoring.
