LOUISA -- Several Lawrence County Bulldogs are headed to the next level. On the diamond, four members of the Lawrence County High School baseball program have earned diplomas as part of the Class of 2020. The latest graduates for 2019 15th Region Champion Lawrence County are Samuel Collinsworth, C.J. Fairchild, Jackson Feltner and Tyler Maynard.  The 2020 high school baseball season was canceled due to the coronavirus. However, Lawrence County will remain a reigning region champion when the 2021 season opens. Lawrence County defeated Johnson Central 12-7 in the 2019 15th Region Baseball Tournament title game at Floyd Central High School. Following the region championship-clinching victory over former 57th District rival Johnson Central, Lawrence County fell to Rowan County in the opening round of the KHSAA Baseball Tournament. Under the direction of veteran head coach Travis Feltner, Lawrence County was the preseason 2020 15th Region favorite. Morehead State University signee Jackson Feltner was poised to lead Lawrence County in the 2020 high school baseball season. The Bulldogs have captured back-to-back 58th District championships. Along with Lawrence County, the 58th District includes Betsy Layne, Floyd Central and Prestonsburg. Multiple members of the Lawrence County baseball team are hoping to compete for various teams over the summer.
