Lawrence County upends Pikeville 7-4

PIKEVILLE — Shelby Blevins doubled twice and drove in four runs as Lawrence County pulled away to defeat homestanding Pikeville 7-4 in nine innings a high school softball game on Thursday, March 24.

Lawrence County and Pikeville were tied 2-2 at the conclusion of the seventh inning.

Following a scoreless eighth inning, Lawrence County outscored Pikeville 5-2 in a ninth frame to pull away for the win.

Taylor Blevins earned the win in the circle. Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County, allowing four runs on six hits and seven walks while recording seven strikeouts.

Pikeville pitcher Emily Ford suffered the loss.

Gracie Preece finished 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs. Preece also drilled a pair of doubles in Lawrence County’s victory.

Kensley Feltner went 2-for-4 and doubled for the Lady Bulldogs in the win.

Izzy Rose doubled and singled, driving in two runs for the Lady Panthers. Aiding her pitching cause at the plate, Ford added two hits, including a double, walked, and drove in one run for the Lady Panthers.

Lawrence County 9, Magoffin County 5

Lawrence County defeated visiting Magoffin County 9-5 in a high school softball game on Tuesday, March 22.

Allie Triplett started in the circle for Lawrence County and claimed the win. Triplett pitched five innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits and one walk. The Lawrence County starting pitcher recorded six strikeouts.

Taylor Blevins pitched the final two innings for Lawrence County and posted the save. Blevins allowed only one walk while holding Magoffin County scoreless. Working out of a relief role, Blevins recorded four strikeouts.

Magoffin County pitcher Jaden Williams suffered the loss.

Nearly hitting for the cycle, Danielle Crum led Lawrence County to the win. Crum finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs. The productive Crum homered, tripled and doubled.

Following Crum, Kensley Feltner added two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Williams, Ashlyn Patrick and Kaitlyn Roberts provided two hits apiece for the Lady Hornets. Moving runners around the bases, Williams and Patrick each drove in two runs.
